There are many famous people that have been spotted playing poker. Watching any of the poker tournaments that are televised will help you spot some of your favorite actors or actresses. Three that pop up at the tournaments quite frequently are Jennifer Tilly, Ben Affleck and James Woods.
Many famous people use their celebrity status and poker as a means to fundraising for different charities. Such celebrities include Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, and Evander Holyfield. There was a show on Bravo for a while called Celebrity Poker Showdown, which held the catch phrase, “Shuffle up and deal.” Different celebrities would go on, each playing for a different charity. Some of the actors that made appearances on the show were Jason Alexander, Michael Ian Black and Shannon Elizabeth. The host was Dave Foley and the commentator was Phil Gordon, who was later replaced by Phil Hellmuth.
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has made a lot of poker players famous, as well. Chris Moneymaker, Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth and Doyle Brunson are some of the poker players that have made themselves a household name. They’ve written books, hosted events, and some have even sponsored some of the various online poker websites. The celebrity hosted poker websites have the stars playing on the site occasionally, giving players to potential of sitting down at a table with a poker champion like Chris Ferguson. If you’re that lucky, you’ll also be able to chat it up in the discussion sections of the poker room where you can choose to ask questions or trash talk at your discretion.

Especially at the various world poker events across the country, more and more Hollywood stars and major athletes are getting bitten by the poker bug and wanting to get into the action.
