The case size will depend on the size, weight and the number of chips. Try and choose the best affordable quality.

The number of chips needed to play:

3-4 Players 300 chipset

4-6 Players 400-500 chipset

6-8 Players 500-650 chipset

8-10+ Players 1000+ chips depending on numbers

The above numbers are all approximate ones. Many chip sellers maintain an open stock of chips so you can purchase more as you need them. Add a good lockable case to protect the chips so you can play with a peaceful mind. Most of the bigger cases will have a place for decks of cards. The case can carry two or more sets according to your requirements.
The arrangement of the chips should be such that they fit in snugly but are easy to remove.

Some cases also have a place for dice and a little notebook and pencil.
There are cases of different materials like plastic, vinyl, wood or metal.
The poker chips are of clay, plastic or mother-of-pearl.

Clay chips are made from ABS plastic and have a metal insert to give them the extra weight. Clay chips are also made from clay composite. These are the best types of chips. Recently, a new type of chip has appeared on the market called “Nexgen”. These are a combination pf a clay composite material but also with a metal insert to give them a weight of 13gm or 15gm. The original series are two colors, whilst the Series II and Lucky Bees have three colours. Clay composite chips are of two types; Tri-color chips and Nevada Jacks. Tri-color chips have three colours on them and Nevada Jacks have history and chip design on their side. In the ABS plastic variety there are single-color chips which are the lowest cost 11.5gm chip or two-color chips which look better. The two color chips have designs like suit, dice, and roulette. You can have chips with numbers on them, and they can be foiled numbered chips and flag chips. You can get printed graphics on clay chips called an inlay. Inlays are typically made of paper and are then covered with a thin film of plastic which is applied to the chip prior to the compression molding process. During the molding process the inlay becomes permanently affixed to the chip and can not be removed from the chip without destroying it.

Ceramic chips were introduced in the mid 1980′s as an alternative to clay chips and are still very common in casinos and in the outside market. Ceramic chips are solid white, injection molded, ceramic disks which are simply printed on.

American casinos use chips that weigh between 8.5g – 10g. Some chips, particularly coin inlayed chips, can weigh more. European chips often come in Mother of Pearl. The higher value chips are often shaped like plaques.

Chips typically come in six weights: 7.5 grams, 8.5 grams, 9.0 grams, 11.5 grams, 13.0 grams, 13.5 grams.

Heavier tends to be more desirable because the chips provide a better tactile experience and sound better when clicking against each other.

Other designs are available, and some chip manufacturers offer exclusive designs. Even if designs share a name, they might have some subtle or significant differences, so spend some time browsing at various online stores to determine which design you like the best.

Customers now have many options for custom made poker chips. Keeping all the information in mind you can go to different manufacturers and get custom made chips. There are chips with smooth edges or serrated or crown edges. You can stamp any design like suits, the sides of the die, the American eagle design, or the American flag, or any other symbol or logo you would prefer. You can get a design in the center and series of imprints around the rim. You can also have something printed or embossed on the edges. You can provide your own artwork or logo for customized poker chips or take professional poker chip designs and make your own personalised poker chips.

The explosion of online poker came in 2003 after the win in the World Series of Poker by Chris Moneymaker, an online amateur who had qualified through an online satellite for only $39. The next year another online qualifier won the World Series of Poker, Gregory Raymer. The World Series of Poker is officially seen as the World Championship of poker and is the most prestigious tournament to win. In 2003 the entrants number was 839 and in 2004 the entrants number increased to 2576. The main reasons for the triple in players are online poker and the extended time poker had on TV.

The online poker industry grew with several thousands % from 2003 to 2005 and new poker rooms popped up everywhere.

The truth is that there are more than hundred poker rooms to choose between but they don’t all have their own players and original software. Most online poker rooms are a part of a network where several sites use a common platform. They might have different graphics but they work the same and share player base. Sites under the same network are called skins. There are approximately 25-30 networks, some huge with hundreds of thousands of players and more than a dozen rooms and some smaller with many or few sites with small player bases. There are of course independent sites like Pokerstars.com, Ultimatebet.com and PacificPoker.com with large player bases as well. But most sites belong to a network. The largest networks are the Party Poker network and the Prima Poker network. The Prima poker network has more than 30 rooms.

Most sites and networks work the same with the differences being the flow of the game, the graphics, competence of the employees (support standard), bonuses and promotions, game variety, betting limits, quality of the players etc.

What to think about when deciding what poker rooms to play are things like: player volume (bigger is better), level of competition (easy games means good money), software (the general feel) and loyalty programs for regular players.

Play with the world’s premier online poker site. Join today for the ultimate poker experience!
