Poker is an exciting game, whether you’re playing at a table with your friends, in a Vegas casino, or online from the comfort of your home. Once you learn how to play, you will likely continue playing for the rest of your life. Perhaps your first exposure to the game was as a child, using pennies to ante up. Maybe you walked by a tournament in a casino. Or, you stumbled onto an online casino while surfing the web and decided to play. Either way, if you’re reading this, you’re interested in poker.

When most people hear about the game of poker, they think of the most commonly played version in casinos, which is Texas Hold’em. It’s a game that’s easy to learn, but will take a lifetime to master. The basic premise is that each player receives two cards face down, so no one else can see your hand. Then there are three community cards, commonly referred to as the flop. These community cards are shared by all the players to try and form the best possible hand. A round of betting occurs and then another community card is dealt, known as the turn. Another round of betting, and then, if you haven’t folded, you’ve got one more card to make a winning hand. This fifth community card is also called the river. The final round of betting happens and everyone’s hands are revealed. The highest hand wins.

It sounds simple, right? Simple to learn, sure. To master? Never.

There are so many combinations that it makes it nearly impossible to have the same experience twice. Not to mention you’ve got players who like to bluff, making you think that they have a better hand than they do. When this happens, you’ve got to learn how to read their bluff like the pros.
